Lorimer Comeaux was in the Army until
1945. During his summers off from high school, he would help his
father farm the land behind where he now lives. In November of
1945, he went to work for Exxon. He chose Exxon because he knew
there would be security when he retired. He began working the
pipeline and always seemed to come back to it. He would walk 20
miles through the swamps checking on the lines. He worked the
pipeline gang until 1958; then he was transferred to Grand Isle
for 13 years. Lorimer retired in 1985 after 40 years with Exxon.
